Flinders on the Harbour, Mackay
Flinders on the Harbour has been given a fresh, new look within the space of a few weeks.
Project Overview:
Located in an exclusive marina precinct of Mackay, the nine-townhouse Flinders on the Harbour offers easy access to alfresco cafes, restaurants, bars and the yacht club.
It’s also just moments from the shoreline – perfect for sea breezes and beach walks.
With a string of successfully completed harbourside projects – including the landmark eight-storey Admiralty Towers in 2025 – Grant Painters has earned a reputation for delivering quality work on waterfront developments.
“It’s the third apartment complex we’ve painted recently in the harbour” said Grant Painters supervisor Mick Hudson.
“This project was extremely satisfying because previously the building looked old and dated.
“I think the work we’ve done has really modernised it.”
A colour change involved recoating the roof in Colorbond Surfmist, which really “pops” against the rejuvenated exterior walls in Slate Grey and Deep Ocean, according to Mick.
Like any project involving multiple tenants, its success relied heavily on effective communication over the five and a half weeks the crew was on site.
What we did
The project involved pressure cleaning and repainting roofs, coating of all previously painted surfaces, rendered boundary fences, replacing corroded conduit saddles and downpipe brackets with stainless steel components, painting of powder-coated aluminium fence panels, and airless spraying of all roller doors.
“Before” shots (below) highlight the transformation with the contemporary new look.

Challenges included gaining access to various sections of the roof as well as minimising disruption to residents – some of whom were shift workers.
“One of the most unusual incidents on this job was dealing with sea fog – which happened three times in one week,” said Mick.
The rare phenomenon made the local media, with 7News Mackay reporting: “Mackay has disappeared under a thick layer of sea fog this week; grounding flights and making drivers anxious.”
