Our Staff

At Grant Painters, our skilled team is the heart of our success. Their expertise, dedication, and attention to detail ensure exceptional results. Meet our trusted professionals.

Grant Painters Owner: Stuart Grant

Stuart holds a business degree and began his career with an apprenticeship at his family’s painting business. In 1992, he relocated to Mackay and established Grant Painters, which quickly grew to serve clients across the Central Queensland region. Stuart’s dedication was recently recognised with an award from Queensland Master Painters, celebrating his  contributions to the industry over a period of 30 years.

James Pike: Branch Manager

James started his career as an apprentice at Grant Painters at Townsville 16 years ago. His problem-solving ability and knack for building strong relationships have made him a highly valued leader – important in his role as the branch manager of our Townsville and Brisbane/Sunshine Coast operations. As a “people person” he fosters a supportive environment, earning the trust of both clients and team members.

Mick Hudson: Mackay Supervisor

As a second-generation painter, Mick brings more than 21 years of experience to the team. He began his career in the Brisbane-Sunshine Coast region, specialising in new residential construction. Three years ago, Mick relocated to Mackay with his family to join Grant Painters. Today, he leads a skilled team focused on revitalising commercial multi-storey and industrial buildings.

Kerrie Edwards: Office Manager

Kerrie Edwards oversees administration of four branches and supports a team of over 20 staff. Based in Townsville, Kerrie is often the first point of contact for many of our clients, ensuring smooth communication. With 20 years of experience in administrative roles within the construction industry, Kerrie brings a wealth of knowledge, exceptional organisational skills, and a commitment to  outstanding service.

Nathan Booth: Major Projects Foreman

Nathan brings 30 years of expertise in all aspects of painting, from residential projects to overseeing large-scale high-rise developments in Brisbane. With extensive management experience, he has a strong focus on building lasting client relationships. After relocating to Mackay and joining Grant Painters recently, his industry knowledge and leadership skills are already being felt.

Karl Petri: Brisbane foreman

Since joining Grant Painters in September 2025, Karl has quickly established himself as a versatile and highly valued member of the team. Overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Brisbane-Sunshine Coast crew, he is highly regarded for his strong work ethic and positive leadership style. His journey in the trade began in Cairns, where his talent earned a nomination for Indigenous Apprentice of the Year. Since then, he has built extensive experience across both commercial and residential projects  – helping him play a key role in delivering the high standards we’re known for. Away from the job site, Karl plays semi-professional football for the Mt Gravatt Vultures in the QAFL.

Jacob Wilson: Townsville foreman

Jacob began his career with us eight years ago as an apprentice and, for the past three years, has served as a foreman in Townsville. He has been instrumental in managing multi-storey projects, coordinating crews, and ensuring worksites run smoothly. Equally confident operating from the cockpit of a spider lift as he is organising complex job sites, he is a versatile and reliable leader – thriving on problem-solving challenges in difficult-to-access locations.

“The key to any successful business is relationship building – relationships we build with our clients, their staff, as well as our own staff.”
